I recently visited Digha, and it turned out to be a refreshing little escape from the usual routine. The moment I reached, the salty breeze and the sound of waves instantly made me feel relaxed. Walking along the beach during sunrise was the highlight for me—the sky slowly changing colors, the soft waves touching my feet, and the calmness all around created a peaceful vibe.
I also enjoyed the local seafood stalls near the beach, especially the freshly fried fish, which added to the experience. In the evenings, the beach gets lively with small shops, street food, and people enjoying themselves, yet it doesn’t lose its charm. It was a short trip, but the mix of relaxation, good food, and the soothing sea made it truly memorable.
Highlights of my trip:
Sunrise walk at New Digha Beach – peaceful and less crowded.
Tasting fresh seafood like pomfret, prawn, and crab at small beachside stalls.
Visiting Amarabati Park for a short boating ride and greenery.
Exploring Shankarpur Beach, which is quieter compared to the main beach.
Evening shopping at the local market for shell crafts and souvenirs.
Travel Tips for Digha:
Try to book a hotel near New Digha Beach—it’s cleaner and more organized than Old Digha.
Carry sunscreen, sunglasses, and flip-flops; the sun and sand can be harsh during the day.
Don’t miss trying the local seafood, but check freshness before ordering.
For a less crowded experience, plan morning walks or visit nearby beaches like Shankarpur or Tajpur.
If traveling from Kolkata, trains are convenient, but buses are also frequent and budget-friendly.
Bargain politely while shopping in beach markets.
